Beacon’s 2024 Consumer of the Year award went to Michelle Ellinger, in recognition of her contributions to our community. She was chosen for many reasons, including her fine work at our “Lunch Box” program, where she oversees the store and trains the volunteer staff. Her nomination said: “She teaches job skills and is very patient, kind and encouraging to those who volunteer. She has cleaned, decorated and organized the store. She has also come up with numerous creative ideas regarding running the store and recruiting volunteers…Michelle has accomplished a great deal in the time I’ve known her. She is an inspiration to those around her and to those she teaches.”
