On September 27 at 7 p.m., Signature Psychiatric Hospital will present a special screening of Suicide The Ripple Effect at Regal Kansas City Stadium 18 Theatre located at 3200 Ameristar Drive.
This event also serves as a fundraiser for Artists Helping the Homeless. A donation of any amount can be designated to this organization led by artist Kar Woo, after purchasing movie tickets online at www.RippleEffectKC.com. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
With strong endorsements from some of the world’s leading suicide prevention experts this film has screenings planned around the world starting March 13th. “Kevin Hines’ Suicide The Ripple Effect is a film that should be seen by anyone who has known despair, and anyone who is or has been close to someone in a suicidal crisis,” said Lisa St. Aubyn, CEO of Signature Psychiatric Hospital.
The film tells the story of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Since then Kevin has been on a mission to use his story to help others find recovery and stay alive, and has become a popular suicide prevention speaker and advocate. The film also features some of the world’s leading suicide prevention experts and shines light on people who are using personal experiences with suicide to help others find the hope they need to stay alive.
Signature Psychiatric Hospital’s mission is to heal lives of those with mental health challenges. Each year Signature provides nearly 7,000 free mental health assessments and helps to families who are in need of acute mental care services. The hospital also saves many military members and first responders’ lives through its Valor Recovery Program. It is estimated the 20 veterans take their lives every day in America.
Prior to the screening Tri-County Mental Health will give an overview of its Zero Suicide approach and services.
With Kansas City’s support, Signature Psychiatric and Tri-County Mental Health can draw more attention to this devastating health crisis while helping more people find the support they need to #BeHereTomorrow.
