Prevention Services

Beacon Mental Health’s Prevention Goal is to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use by youth, and promote the health, safety and well-being of all youth and families residing in Clay, Platte, and Ray counties.

Prevention Specialists provide technical assistance to fifteen prevention coalitions. The local coalitions mirror the school district boundaries. Prevention staff also support four broad-based coalitions: Youth With Vision, a high school prevention leadership and advocacy coalition; the Ray County Coalition that covers all of Ray County; and the Northland Coalition that serves as the regional coalition serving Clay, Platte, and Ray and North Kansas City Teaching and Reaching Youth serving all of NKC School district. Each prevention coalition is unique, but each rely on collaboration through all sectors of our community.

Beacon Mental Health is the Prevention Resource Center serving Clay, Platte, and Ray Counties in Missouri. Through an incredible network of engaged partners, diversified funding, and certified prevention staff, we are able to facilitate and provide the following programs:
