This month, our Board of Directors and Executive Team unveiled a new name and logo for Tri-County Mental Health Services, shining a light on a new era for our organization. As of October 9, 2023, we are now officially Beacon Mental Health! If you joined us at Tee Off Fore Tri-County on October 10, you were able to hear this exciting news in person, and we thank you for your support of that event and our very special announcement.
What does this mean for our clients, supporters, and community? Our name and logo may have changed, but we are still the same independent nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safety net mental health and substance use services to the residents of Clay, Platte and Ray counties. We have not changed ownership or become a county agency. We are still managed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the community we serve. As Beacon Mental Health, we are not changing staff, services, locations, or anything other than our name and logo.
You may be curious why we decided to rebrand. Our former name and logo were often confused with other Tri-County entities around the country. In fact, there is a Tri-County Mental Health in Maine and Oregon, and our electronic messages/notices and applicants for jobs have gone to those other organizations incorrectly, and some have come to us in error. Additionally, our former name and logo referred to a specific geographic location – 3 counties of the Kansas City Metro area. We are greater than that now, and have relationships with hospitals and other providers which exceed our three-county boundary.
Our organization has been serving Clay, Platte and Ray counties for over 50 years. As we look toward the next 50 years, we are reignited with a new name that signifies the light, hope and connection that Beacon Mental Health provides to our community. The refreshed look and feel of our brand sets us on a path of continued growth and expansion, so we can impact more lives as the Kansas City metro area grows, and mental health and substance use challenges evolve.
We hope that our new name makes people feel the inspiration that our services can bring to people in need of our help. Our incredible staff, our network of partner organizations, and our programs and services have a long history of being a light in the darkness for our community. Beacon Mental Health is here for you, lighting your way to a better future.
