For the second consecutive year, Tri-County Mental Health Services has earned the Gold Level Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certification from Healthy KC, a regional non-profit organization promoting wellness in Greater Kansas City.
Founded in 2014, Healthy KC is addressing a range of regional health issues such as nutrition and tobacco cessation. The workplace initiative recognizes area organizations for innovation and excellence in promoting a culture of health in the workplace. Organizations are measured for their support and available resources in four areas, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation and work‐life integration.
Tri-County Human Resources Director Carolyn Worth said the gold ranking illustrates the organization’s commitment to employee wellness. “We’re very honored to earn this level for the second year,” she noted. “This illustrates our commitment to the health of our staff and our belief that wellness is good for the workplace.”
Worth said Tri-County initiatives that contributed to the top-level ranking include the annual Heart and Sole 5K Run/Walk, gym reimbursements as well as reduced cost for the onsite gym, an online wellness portal which earns users various rewards for participation, healthy snacks offered onsite daily, and various wellness lunch and learns throughout the year.
