What do you like to do in your free time?
I LOVE to read, organize, craft, sew, home decorating, watch movies and documentaries, cuddle with my dog Leela, spend time with my husband, watch self-improvement videos, and go thrifting.
Who do you look up to and why?
Anyone who lives their life with kindness, balance, wisdom, integrity, and service.
What’s your pet peeve?
People who are too busy being a part of the problem rather than the solution.
What’s your favorite Kansas City hangout or activity?
I love going to Loose Park or Tomahawk Creek Park because it’s inspiring to be in the beauty of nature among other people who are being active or to people-watch and write in my journal.
What does a perfect Saturday in Kansas City look like?
Going to church where my husband and I have been actively involved with an African Seventh-day Adventist refugee church. Teaching my Sabbath School class which can range from toddler through high school age. I love making my class a fun and happy place for them to learn about Jesus and the Bible stories. My husband drives the van to help families get to church or take the young people on special outings. We’ve been doing this for about 7 to 8 years. After church, I enjoy a delicious vegetarian Sabbath meal, call my parents, and conclude the Sabbath time with reflection about my day while I walk my dog.
Tell me something a lot of people don’t know about you – amazing truth!
I am somewhat of a daredevil. I’d love to try bungee-jumping and skydiving. I’ve been white water rafting, repelling, ran two half marathons and one full marathon among other things.
If you could imagine doing something else for work besides what you do now, what would it be and why?
I would definitely get into home interior design and/or a wedding reception hall decorating business which centers on DIY low-budget, but fabulous décor.
What is your dream vacation?
I’d love to go on a cruise to Hawaii to tour all of the islands or to Europe and tour lots of castles and cathedrals. It would also be great to take a romantic boat ride in Paris.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
My faith.
