We see and hear a lot about the need for self care from the Internet and the people around us. But what is self care? If you’re a middle school or high school student (or parent of a student) looking for ways to learn and incorporate self care into your routine, keep reading!

Self care is making sure we can take care of ourselves and our needs to help us best manage stress in our lives. When we feel rested, well nourished and cared for, it makes it easier for us to help others.

Self care doesn’t have to take long. It may only take seconds to do some deep breathing, eating some nutritious food, chatting with a friend and engaging in school or work. All of these things can be forms of self care! Self care is something that we practice throughout our lives to develop something called resilience. Resilience helps us get through difficult times and bounce back.

Right now as a society we are focused on keeping healthy and safe by wearing a mask, washing hands, and practicing social distancing. Check out this video and some of the ways to practice self care below.
